Finally, something to see in the theatre! I am truly sorry for a lack of writing on my part, but I have just been too unmoved by anything good or bad to do it. Until now that is.

Sin City is beautiful. A comic book on the screen, that is simply amazing to view. This film is more of a work of art than anything; I was even able to put aside the feelings I have for Tarantino for this one. He directs one small scene, and I can tell you it is terribly easy to pick out from the rest.

The film tells 3 different stories, that all come together in the end (think Pulp Fiction). Opening with Hartigan (Willis) chasing down a pedophile (Stahl) and saving the child victim from him. This story will come back later in the film. Moving along to Marv (Rourke) waking up next to a dead hooker, who he thinks he was in love with. Marv begins a hunt for Goldie’s killer and discovers just how far up the chain the evil of Sin City goes. We then meet Bob, who in an attempt to save his new girlfriend (Murphy) from an abusive ex (Del Toro) manages to upset the delicate balance of power in Sin City. Finally we are back with Hartigan, some 10 years later in his life, but only minutes from the rest of the story. The child he saved is now all grown up (Alba) and someone else wants their revenge.
This film may not be the best in all categories, but it is stunning visually, completely different and refreshingly true to its comic book form. From the word bubble like narration to the billowing of fabric, each frame is a “drawing” come to life.

I will warn those of you who get a little freaked out, this film is black and white. There are splashes of color for effect, but that is it. Also QT does play a role in this,I know it is difficult for me as well. Try to get past all that and enjoy the film. Cheers!
